Pattern Construction

I am often asked the question: Where can I get a knitting pattern?

Today, on the Internet, you can find more than a sufficient number of all kinds of patterns and patterns. All of them are freely available in any Internet search engine. Often, the main problem is their quality and the time spent finding them. For the scheme to be of high quality and easy to execute, it takes a lot of work and imagination. It takes immeasurably more time to work out the scheme than to knit the product itself, since execution is just a matter of technology.

You always have a choice: use a ready-made solution (here)   or try to create yourself  guide to action

Developers of all kinds of programs for building sewing patterns, cross-stitching or calculating knitting loops greatly facilitate the process for those who are not Professional engaged in this type of activity . Such programs assume the ability to load png format pictures . jpg.  and receive a conditional pattern of the future garment, the calculation of stitches for embroidery or the calculation of loops for knitting with a ready-made color scheme.

However, rely entirely on this kind of program when developing the scheme for knitting in the technique of multicolor jacquard fabric - not worth it. Even when using an advanced knitting technique with several colored threads in one working row, this number cannot be infinite.

And the scheme automatically calculated by the program must be adapted to the capabilities of your skill and knitting technique.

The calculation of the scheme can be performed in the classical way: by coloring the rapport  by  hand with pencils  or using ON-line  programs embedded in third-party sites. It is also possible to use the standard Word EXCEL program weighing the "pros" and "cons"

I'll start right away with the nuances of using  ON-line  programs built into third-party sites. Almost every such site has a Copyright section.

In this section, it is most often indicated that any scheme  you create becomes publicly available and is included in the site's piggy bank. The program records the result of the file you saved, and it automatically becomes the property of the site.

You must be prepared for the fact that someone can knit a product according to your calculations. It will be possible to make a profit from the sale of products, but not a word will be said about you. And even more so, no one will care about royalties for the developed by YOU technology and creativity.

Therefore, if you want to retain the right to intellectual property,   you can use programs and photo editors Photoshop,  CoralDraw,   3D MAX. But you need to take into account that downloading a new version of these programs can be a paid service.

There is a more accessible and simpler way - this is to use the standard Word EXCEL program.  It is included in any Microsoft Office suite.

And finally, the calculation can be done by  manually coloring the rapport with pencils on a regular sheet of paper.  There is one indisputable advantage in this method: it visually makes it possible to feel how to get color by mixing basic shades. This develops skills and abilities to build a balanced composition and select  color combinations .

where to begin

It doesn't matter whether you work in the program or manually, your actions follow the same sequence:

              1) draw the rapport of the future patterned motif, first in black and white

              2) build a balanced composition for the entire product using the developed rapport

              3) choose a color scheme according to your wishes - the number of color test compositions is not limited

              4) write in color the entire pattern of the pattern for the product as a whole and outline: the level of the thumb and the level of the descending loops

              5) print the finished scheme in a large format, preferably A3, so that during the knitting process you have before your eyes the entire composition of the mittens.

Try it! Be creative! Good luck!
